We have put together a series of art nights that touch on a variety of art forms. Future sessions will be based on suggestions from the community. We hope something here will be of interest to you:
Tuesday, February 1st
Learn some basic techniques for portrait drawing, and then make several self-portrait drawings and combine them in a collage.
Tuesday, February 8th
Paper relief sculpture. Use simple materials such as: glue, paper and tape, to create a sculpture.
Tuesday, February 15th
Look at some examples of how artists have used photographs, tissue paper, magazines and newspaper in their paintings, and then make your own acrylic collage.
Tuesday, February 22nd
Still-life painting. Learn about contour lines and colour as you make a still-life painting with pastels and mineral spirits.
March 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
For the month of March, artist Susan Seright will be teaching how to create an altered book. Bring a photograph of yourself which you are willing to scratch into and paint on. Experiment with clay, gesso, gel medium and paint as you turn an old book into something new. Participants must be able to attend all five classes. Registrations for this month will be accepted on a first come first serve basis beginning on Wednesday, February 16th at 9:30 am.
Tuesday, April 5th
Ink portraits. Learn some techniques of how to paint with ink, and then practice painting either another person in the class, or yourself.
