Look at some examples of how artists have painted with wax, and then try your hand at encaustic painting.

Release some tension by breaking tiles and ceramics, then learn how to turn the pieces into a mosaic flowerpot.

Learn some basic watercolour techniques from artist Rebekah O’Brien. Experiment with these techniques as you create a landscape painting. (You might want to bring a few photos of landscapes to work from).

Experiment with glazes and paints as you make functional ceramic tiles.

Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty as you use plaster and wood to create sculptures.

We will discuss proportion, light and shadow and then using cardboard and ink we will make self-portrait prints.
Tuesday, July 27th
Look at how VanGogh used complementary colours in his still-life paintings and drawings. Using similar techniques, make your own still-life with pastels.

Experiment with texture and moulds as you make a clay mask.
Tuesday, August 10th
Cyanotypes! Learn how to use sunlight and found objects in old-fashioned photography process to create cyanotype prints.
Tuesday, August 17th
Make your own paint with egg yolk and pigment, and then use this paint to make egg tempera paintings.
Tuesday, August 24th
Use fabric, wax resist and dyes to make a batik painting.

Sessions run from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on the above nights.

> These sessions are for adults (no children please!) In future we plan to offer family sessions where children will be
welcome to participate with their parents.
> You do not need to be an artist to join in! The sessions will be geared to accommodate everyone from first timers
(novices) to accomplished artists. Everyone has something to learn and something to offer.
> Snacks will be provided.
> There is no cost to attend one or all of the sessions – all are welcome – but we would like you to call to let us know you are
coming so we have enough supplies (and snacks!)
