Youth Art Workshops – Summer 2004

Wednesday, July 7th
Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty as you experiment with plaster, wood and paint to create sculptures!

Wednesday, July 14th
Self- Portrait drawings! Learn about contour lines and proportion as you experiment with ink, charcoal and pastels.

Wednesday, July 21st
Learn how artists, like Van Gogh, used colour to make still-life drawings and then arrange your own still-life to draw and paint from.

Wednesday, July 28th
Experiment with different ways of making texture in clay and then use these techniques to make a mask.

Wednesday, August 4th
Printmaking! Learn how and why artists make prints and then create your own cyanotype prints (an old-fashioned photography process).

Wednesday, August 11th
If it’s warm and sunny, we will head outside to sketch in the park. Back in the studio, we will paint our landscapes while discussing composition and the horizon.

Wednesday, August 18th
Collage together a variety of media – fabric, plasticine, paint and found objects, to create a diorama.

Wednesday, August 25th
Batik paintings! Learn how to use wax and dyes to create a picture on fabric.

When?

Art classes will run each Wednesday from July 7th – August 25th, 2004

3:00 – 5:00pm

> All supplies are included in the admission fee of $10 per class, or $70 for 8 classes.

> There will be a ratio of 1 adult for every 4 participants. If the student needs more support, please provide an aid.

> A completed registration form with the admission fee must be received at least 2 weeks before the class.

> Space is limited. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

> Full refunds will be issued up to seven days prior to the beginning of the class. Exemptions will be made in the event of an    emergency.
